Zipblock's Highlights

Quite awhile ago, I posted about a mosaic I found on the LEGO blog The Luprechaun.  In the comments, the blog's author, Joseph Williams (Zipblock), made an extensive list of some mosaics that were potentially new to me.  He included lots of links and descriptions, and I've been meaning to post them here.  Better late than never, right?

Anyway, here are the mosaics he posted that haven't previously been featured on the MosaicBricks blog.

These first two were made by VicLUG member John Langrish, and it’s the VicLUG logo and his ‘head’:

These next two on the wall were made by VicLUG member, Rod Paananen, and the baby is his:

John’s mom, Mary Plumridge, is also a mosaic artist:

There’s also this Lego Universe related one:

You can see the original blog post in The Luprechaun here

Anecdotally, for Lego Universe fans, mosaic is a pretty special and loaded term because it conjures images of the Mosaic Jester:

Personally, any jester covered with geometric mosaics is an instant fave for me!

Thanks to Joseph for the extensive list!

LEGO Universe Faction Leaders Mosaic

I discovered a new-to-me LEGO blog called "The Luprechaun:  A LEGO Universe Refugee's Outpost", and they had an interesting post about a mosaic of the faction leaders from LEGO universe.

I'd seen some pictures on flickr, but didn't have any of the backstory.  Apparently it was done by model designers for the LEGO Universe program.  The post on The Luprechaun includes a description of the building process by Classicsmiley, who was involved in the build.  It is interesting, and I recommend checking it out.

The Coolest MMORPG on the Web!

Since early 2010 (somewhere around March), I had the privilege of being a beta-tester for LEGO Universe. Not one of those people who's the very first person to try out the game, but I was still a tester very early on. I must say, watching the game develop from then, to now, has been a lot of fun. Seeing what I thought the game was going to be, to seeing it now is unreal. The minifigs for this game are insane! I thought you could had cool armor, but not awesome armor! Anyway, as the summer wrapped up and I got busy, I no longer could play the beta. I just didn't have any time, and then in late September, the beta finally closed. I'm not a full blown player, but I've seen some pretty sweet screenshots.

Anyway, in LEGOLAND California (I've been there once!), now has a brand new "Club House" that features LEGO Universe. Inside the club house, there's an awesome mosaic for the four main characters that represent the four different factions. Sentinel, Adventure, Assembly, and Paradox.
