Warning: Cuteness Ahead!

I run into periods of time where it's hard to keep up with this blog, but Bruce always keeps me on my toes!

About these first ones, by Brickshelf user Elena, he says they are simple but fun, and that he particularly likes the dragon:

 

 

 

  

 

 

 

   

 

They are all so super-cute!  I notice some clever techniques on the rabbits, too.  There are transparent bricks used for slight shading, little lever bits for eye brow highlights, and grill plates on the carrots for texture.

 

Bruce also sent a link to Pete W.'s photo of a LEGO mosaic "with added 3-D fish, on the stairway to Hobbyco's second level."  I like the little sea horses.  They're so.... cute!



 

"Never laugh at live dragons, Bilbo you fool!"

So over at Classic-Castle, moderator Bluesecrets created a contest in which contestants were to show how they believed dragons were created. Now the winners have already been announced here, but user rogue27 (also a moderator of C-C) included a very small, yet well done mosaic in his entry.

His description reads: 

"The exchange student always blew off his sculpture assignments so he could dream up new monsters. Nobody expected that his creations would find their way into legends."

The mosaic is only about 6 studs long and 3 and a third studs high, yet conveys the image nicely. I'm going to have to try and incorporate small mosaics like these into tapestries, graffiti, or something else into my creations and I invite you to do the same!

Happy New Year!

I don't know that much about Chinese New Year. I did once march in the Chinese New Year Parade in San Francisco, and it was wild and exciting, with lights and noise and masses of people, some of whom liked to throw fireworks practically under our feet. My best friend Google tells me that this year the Chinese New Year is January 23, and Rack911 uploaded these adorable characters to celebrate.



I found that the use of mosaics of Chinese characters in the background really added to the presentation.
