Mosaics Round-Up

I think when I continue to post here, it will be a quicker sort of post, more of a round-up of mosaics instead of a focus on just one.

Secondly, mosaics:

 I don't think I ever posted Josh Wedin's cool mosaic of Captain Picard.  I was waiting till he got it signed by Patrick Stewart at the Emerald City ComiCon. 





Ryan H. (eldeeem) made a cute little Pikachu, and had to wait for the snow to melt before photographing it outside:





Robin Sather, Dave Ware, and the people of Calgary built this 5 ft. x 6.5 ft. mosaic "Visions of Calgary": 





And I thought this "wall sculpture" by Joshua (Igginz) seemed pretty cool.





And finally, check out this awesomely decayed sign that Evan B. (Lego Junkie) made for his Call of Duty diorama:

Sonic in Modulex

Ryan H. (eldeeem) has been investing in a lot of Modulex lately.  He says it is perfect for making mosaics based on square pixels.  Here he shows us an example with Sonic the Hedgehog. 



Modulex has a different size ratio than regular LEGO bricks.  A Modulex 1x1 brick really is a cube, unlike the standard LEGO 1x1 brick, which has a dimension of 5x5x6 half-plates.  Modulex dimensions would definitely make it easier to construct SNOT-y mosaics (with the studs pointing to the top, instead of outwards).  One other interesting aspect to Modulex is that it comes in different colors, as you can see in Ryan's chart here.
