A Fine Specimen

Flickr user mahjqa designed this amazing fossil mosaic for Steve Demlow, who built it as part of a larger city display.


It's a very clever way to incorporate a large mosaic into a three-dimensional creation, and the execution was very well done.  Mahjqa posted a link to a discussion of the technique used for the design.  You can see more of Mahjqa's fine mosaics in this set.
